Reggie Yates' loyal army of fans sent heartfelt congratulations after he delightedly shared some baby news on Monday morning.

The BBC presenter, 40, revealed his family has officially 'grown by one' and posted a sweet picture of a newborn gripping his finger on his Instagram page.

Reggie shared two heart-warming images with his 309,000 social media followers, setting tongues wagging as he snuggled a baby believed to be the 13th member of his family.

In one of the photos, a tiny hand held on to Reggie's finger while another showed the baby's feet snuggled in a blue blanket.

Reggie wrote: 'And the family grows by one. Again. Fully in my Uncle era after baby #13.

'Before you ask, yes, I'll be wearing linen and sandals all summer and no, he's not mine. Again.'

Fans shared their joy for Reggie with many rushing to the comments section - but some were quick to assume the little one was his.

One wrote: 'Congratulations daddy!'

But others noticed and continued to congratulate him on being an uncle again.

'Congrats on becoming an Uncle again. Thought I'd say because everyone else doesn't want to read the caption';

'Happy to promote you to daddy era. Congratulations to your family.'

Reggie's celebrity pals also rushed to the comments section to share their happiness.

Rapper and singer Wretch 32 added: 'Congrats bro.'

Scottish radio DJ Edith Bow also offered a 'huge congrats Reg, to you and the family.'

Reggie, who currently doesn't have children of his own, prefers to keep his private life under the radar.

It appears that the documentary maker is currently single, but he was previously engaged to model and blogger Tia Ward in 2015, before they split a year later.

Reggie, who first found fame as a child actor before moving to Radio 1 as a DJ, lives in London and focuses his talents on documentary making.

Speaking previously, he said: 'My older sister and I didn’t have much to do as kids. We grew up on an inner-London council estate.

'We both had way too much energy and Mum wanted us out of the house, so when she heard about a woman who taught acting to kids in Islington at £2.50 a lesson, she made us go.

'That woman was Anna Scher, and her lessons were quite unique.

'There we were, a bunch of underprivileged kids aged between six and 15, many of us the kids of single mums on benefits, and Anna would stand at the front of the class teaching us not only drama, but philosophy, too.

'I remember discussing the murder of Stephen Lawrence with her when I was ten.'

Reggie 'loved acting' but the idea that he was 'worth listening to' was what had a 'really profound effect' on him.

He got his first acting part at the age of eight, in the C4 sitcom Desmond's.

Reggie said: 'Suddenly I was on TV every week, but it didn’t turn my head, largely because neither Mum nor my friends let it.

'I still had to do the washing up and my mates still called me banana foot when I played football.'

Now his mum Felicia Asante has started her own dance school for children, 'which is her way of giving back to the community.'

Reggie continued: 'Every neighbourhood has that one person who’s famous locally for being selfless, running a club or giving their time.

'We need to recognise them more, and say thank you.'
